DFI Journey - Day 9

Day 9 - External recognition day

Well.... where have those 9 weeks gone. Who would believe today is our last day with our fellow colleagues. I have learnt so much but I know that my journey is far from complete as I continue to try and put all my theory into practise.

Some of the other things I've enjoyed is having the time to connect with fellow teachers and how they use Learn, Create, Share within their classrooms. I am amazed at what some of the NE's teachers are doing or able to do with their classes. I'm unsure of how I could implement this within my Miro kaiāwhina group due to the different personalities that I have. Would certainly like to discuss this further with Sharon and see what her thoughts are.

I've really enjoyed listening to Dorothy's 'chats' regarding how Manaiakalani started and where it has progressed over the years. I absolutely love the quote by Marie Mitchell (as discussed in last week's blog). I feel that if I have this printed out either in my teaching space or at my desk, I will be able to continue on this shared journey with my learners.

The exam ... With everything else that has happened in the last 9 weeks or in the last few days I came with the attitude today that yes I'll try my best but if I pass (yipppeee) but if I fail, I can always try again. I think this helped set me up with a mindset for success and wasn't as anxious. The majority of the exam I could do without help but I'm glad that I could call on Sharon, Emily or 'good old google' for help. I mainly needed help with things that I don't usually use eg Google Classroom, Sites etc. Some of the multiple-choice questions were a bit hard but some of them were just common sense. Who knows if I will pass but hey I tried and at the end of the day I have gained so much other knowledge over the last 9 weeks that has placed me in a good place for my future learning.

Thank you Sharon and Emily for all of your help and I can't wait to start on this new journey :).
